RULE 9.6 - PHYSICAL ABUSE OF OFFICIAL (MATCH PENALTY ON OFFICIAL)

THIS PENALTY IS THE MOST SEVERE PENALTY IN THE RULE BOOK. The following is alist of procedures and guidelines you should follow when making this judgment.

A standard Match Penalty form supplied by Hockey Alberta will be distributed at the Clinics. This form, called Match Penalty on an Official, includes:
  • helpful guidelines regarding the situations that would require a match on official to be called. These guidelines can also be viewed online: Guidelines.
  • the post-game procedures you must follow when you assess a match penalty on official to a player. These procedures can also be viewed online: Procedures.
  • and a helpful list of information you must collect to write up your report. This information is mandatory for the Match on Official situation, but is also a useful guideline for game reports in general.


GET THE MATCH PENALTY FORM:
Remember that preventing a match penalty on official can be facilitated by avoiding volatile situations - make that a top priority. That said, in the event that you have to call a match on official, the Match Penalty form will be a valuable tool to you.
