Reclassification involves changing your Hockey Canada Level (1-6) and does not involve changing the level of hockey being worked by an official. Reclassification of an official can come about in one of three different ways: 1. The official requesting Reclassification in writing to the Director of Reclassification by December 31 of each year. A resume of experience and levels of hockey as well as current supervisions should be included with the letter. 2. By a recommendation from the official's Squad Leader in writing. 3. The Reclassification Committee reviewing the name list each year and selecting potential candidates for upgrading. The following are some general guidelines used for reclassification throughout Hockey Alberta's various officiating zones: Level II - 16 years of age by December 31 of the current year in which the official is registering. At the end of each season, the Reclassification Committee will make its recommendations regarding reclassification to the Zone Executive. At that time, the Executive will classify officials from Level I to IV (reclassifying officials is done at this time). Also at that time, the Executive will make recommendations to the Provincial Executive for Levels V and VI. |
