Central Zone Referees' Committee

Supervision
Thursday, 29 October 2009 00:00

All officials in the Central Zone are expected to perform supervisions, with the exception of the newest (least experienced) members of the Zone. In the rural areas of the Zone, the supervisions may be handled by the Referee-in-Chief for each community.

In Calgary, the Supervision Program is split into the Supervision A Program and the Supervision B Program. Each program is administered by a Director chosen each year from among the Executive members.

Completed supervisions may be handed in to either of the Directors at any General Meeting. They may be handed in on your behalf by the Supervision Coordinator that you work with, or by your peers. If the person to whom a supervisor has entrusted his/her supervisions does not hand them to the Director, the supervisor will be held responsible, and will need to ensure that copies are provided. The Director will not chase down supervision sheets, as it is the responsibility of the individual supervisors to ensure they have completed and provided their supervisions, and there are too many members in the Zone to have to follow up on each individual. The triplicate sheets will now avoid these situations, as one copy goes to the official, one to the league supervisor coordinator person (if supervising an assigned league), and one the Director.

Don't have any supervision forms? Check out these electronic versions, but remember that three copies are needed - one for the official, one for the supervisor, and one for the Central Zone (sent to either the Superivison A or B director, or Rural RIC):

- MS Word format (good for filling out on a computer and emailing)
- PDF format (good for printing and writing on)

Supervision A Program

The number for all other officials in the A program is 12 written supervisions, with 4 in the community program;

What are Coordinators? - League supervisor coordinators will be in place for CIS, ACAC, AJHL, CJHL (Jr.B), Midget AAA, Midget AA, Midget A, Bantam AAA, Midget 1 and Bantam 1 and will have a team of supervisors working with them to ensure that these leagues are supervised and ranked appropriately for playoffs each season and to assist the Senior Hockey Committee with rankings.

How can YOU get involved? - The supervisors for each league will be chosen by the coordinators of that league not by the Director. If you wish to help out with one of these leagues please contact the coordinator (The names of the coordinators are listed below and in the interest of confidentiality there contact information is not published on this website.
